Promotional fares for students
Students aged 18 and over
As a student aged 18 and over in the Greater Montréal area, you can get 40% off your monthly or multi-month fare if:
- you are a full-time student
- you have a valid photo OPUS card
- you purchase your monthly or multi-month fare on your photo OPUS card
Check if your fare is eligible for the student discount by consulting the Students 18+ column of the fare schedule.
In person
- Fill out the photo OPUS card application form – Access the form (PDF)
- Print it out and present yourself in person at a metropolitan ticket office, the STM Photo Studio (Berri-UQAM station) or an exo point of service.
- Tip: An appointment may be necessary. Ask your local transit agency.
- Submit the form and pay the photo OPUS card issuance fee ($15.00).
Online
- Get a photo OPUS card directly from your school portal if this service is available.
Students aged 16 to 17
As a student aged 16 to 17 in the Greater Montréal area, you can get 30% to 40% off your public transit fare if:
- you are a full-time student
- you have a valid photo OPUS card
- you purchase your transit fare on your photo OPUS card

Free for children
Children aged 6 to 11 can travel for free while accompanied by a person aged 14 or older who is supervising them. The accompanying person must have a valid and validated fare. If your child is travelling alone, they must have a photo OPUS card and a valid fare.
Students aged 6 to 15
As a student between the ages of 6 and 15 in the Greater Montreal area, you can get 30% to 40% off your eligible transit fare if:
- you have a valid photo OPUS card
- you purchase your transit fare on your photo OPUS card
